چکیده
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a systemic disease that has poor maternal and fetal health outcomes. Patients who are diagnosed with GDM more likely to encounter cardiovascular system diseases during pregnancy after birth. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) used as an early indicator of such coronary artery disease. This study aims define the effects hyperglycemia at term using CIMT, doppler flows in patients GDM. The included 132 pregnant women had reached 24th gestational week. (GDM group n=65, Control n=67) Comparisons were performed between similar demographic characteristics received 100-gr oral glucose test (OGT) diagnosis did not. participants’ routine hemograms biochemical tests done OGT. Fetal biometrics, amniotic fluid index, uterine flow, bilateral CIMT measurements obstetric examinations. Gravida, para, live birth rates participants higher than those control (p=0.003, 0.002, 0.002 respectively). index was found be (p<0.001). Fasting values platelet counts (p=0.031 p<0.001). Other laboratory data demonstrated no statistically meaningful differences groups (p>0.05). When compared, umbilical pulsatility discovered (p=0.509). While right (UtA) (p<0.001), significant terms left UtA (p=0.485). Right CIMTs (p=0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001 there positive correlation thrombocyte level resistance (r=0.336, p=0.006; r=0.397, p=0.044 respectively), correlations group. inflammation, increased CIMT. It been shown, levels thrombocytosis patients. Uterine could inflammation

متن کاملAssessment of Carotid Intima-Media Thickness and Infra-Renal Abdominal Aorta Diameter in Women with and Without Gestational Diabetes Mellitus-A case Control Study
Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus occurs during pregnancy is associated with increased cardiovascular risk. Carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) is a surrogate maker of subclinical atherosclerosis. The aim of this study is assessment of relationship between CIMT and infra-renal abdominal aorta diameter in women with and without Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Materials and Methods: Th...
متن کاملPrevious gestational diabetes is independently associated with increased carotid intima-media thickness, similarly to metabolic syndrome – a case control study
BACKGROUND Women with previous gestational diabetes mellitus (pGDM) face a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes and, consequently, a higher cardiovascular risk. This study aimed to compare the carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) from young women with pGDM to those with metabolic syndrome (MS) and to healthy controls (CG) to verify whether a past history of pGDM could be independently ass...
متن کاملComparison of the Intima-media Thickness of Carotid Artery in Children with Diabetes Type One and Control Group Using Ultrasound
Background & Aims: Diabetes is a very important factor for stroke due to blocked blood vessels. It can involve systemic and cerebrovascular arteries at the same time via microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. This project aimed to compare the intima-media thickness of carotid artery in children with diabetes type and the control group. Methods: In this case-control study, 50 children with the age...
متن کاملComparing Carotid Intima-Media Thicknessin Women with and Without Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Background & Aims: Women with history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at risk for developing cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) is noninvasive marker of sub clinical atherosclerosis assessment. The aim of the present study was to assess relationship between GDM and increased CIMT. Methods: Twenty women with previous history of GDM and...
